Trading Local brings together local writers, actors, shops and shoppers for a day of brilliantly simple and truly inspired FREE theatre in Exeter City Centre.
Earlier this year, Bristol-based and internationally known Show Of Strength created Trading Local in Bedminister, Bristol, developing five minute monologues by local writers through a series of workshops. Audiences said: Audiences said: ’superb event…truly innovative and imaginative’, and shops said: ‘lots of new people came in, people who didn’t know this road existed’.
Following this storming success, Exeter Northcott invited SOS to create a new version for Sidwell Street. More than 40 writers took part in workshops in September and October, submitting plays inspired by local shops.
15 scripts have been selected for performance in a variety of locations, including St. Sidwell's Centre, Kirk Radio, The Knitting Basket and Lloyd Maunders. Just arrive at shops at the scheduled times to enjoy this free and unique theatrical experience.
