Bayadère – The Ninth Life

Shobana Jeyasingh Dance return to Exeter with a radical re-imagining of the celebrated ballet, La Bayadère,for the 21st century. Moving between fact and fantasy, the original story is interwoven with the first ever visit of Indian dancers to Europe in 1838.
The many-layered narrative presents a fresh new vision of dance that belongs to both India and Europe and features originally commissioned music by Gabriel Prokofiev, the London-based composer, producer and DJ.
Expect a visually stunning performance packed with visceral energy and choreographic virtuosity from an international cast of exceptional dancers.
