Our First Steps Out
Join us for an evening with internationally renowned choreographer and Exeter Northcott Associate Artist Richard Chappell. The evening will consist of a short performance of new solo choreography for the critically acclaimed dancer Faye Stoeser, an exclusive screening of a short film Present With Me and a post-performance discussion.
‘This is a work-in-progress sharing of a solo piece that will be developed into a full production premiering at Exeter Northcott next year before embarking on a national tour. Supported by the Northcott, we’ll be working with award-winning electronic musicians Larch, concert violinist Enyun Khong, and a company of extraordinary dancers on a multi-sensory production that explores ritual, rave and the way we connect with each other. We’re excited to share this first stage of the production’s development with Exeter audiences.’ Richard Chappell
Richard Chappell Dance regularly works with prestigious organisations including the Royal Opera House, Studio Wayne McGregor, and NDCWales and also with grass-roots community organisations to find ways people can connect through movement. His short film, Present With Me, features an intergenerational cast from Torbay’s community and is set in virtual and real spaces including people’s gardens and community outdoor spaces. Plans are being made to bring this project to Exeter – watch this space!
