Community Commissions Announced!

We’re delighted to support two community initiatives, bringing people together to get creative.

Amy Hopwood’s Duryard Songwriting Project will draw together a group of residents living in the Duryard area, and support them to write, sing, record and share their own neighbourhood song. As we approach the end to lockdown, this project will ask people to respond creatively to themes of spring, hope, and renewal.

The project is designed to bring people together, in a fun, creative and uplifting way, during lockdown. However, because the project is focused on such a specific geographical area, we are able to create online links between neighbours who had never previously met, and these can continue to develop in real life once lockdown is over. There’s already been talk of setting up a community choir as a result!

Johanna Korndorfer’s Seeding Ideas Kiosk, is a co-commission with Exeter Seed Bank which will enable seed-swapping and seed storytelling to take place in schools, parks, festivals and on any street. A community commissioning group will work with an artist to design a durable cardboard kiosk which can be flat-packed and transported for Seed Bank events.

We’ll fuse sustainable, environmental community ambitions with an innovative creative form: a sculptural portable structure which will, at the end of its life, return to the earth as a compostable material.
