Access and Facilities

Accessible Theatre

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience live theatre. We are striving to make our theatre as accessible as possible and recognise that not all disabilities are visible.

If you have any access needs, please get in touch via email on [email protected], or by phone on 01392 72 63 63 and we’ll gladly assist.

Level Access

At the Northcott

Both entrances to the Northcott Theatre have ramped access. There are 3 blue badge parking spaces on Queens Drive, at the rear of the theatre, 10 spaces in car park C at the front, and 5 more spaces a little bit further at Northcote House.

There is a lift located to the left of our main entrance, next to the Box Office. Accessible washroom facilities are located on the ground floor opposite the stairs and on levels 3, accessible via the lift.

The auditorium has 6 wheelchair spaces on row G, which you can easily access by taking the lift to level 3. Our wheelchair spaces and a limited number of level access seats are only bookable through our Box Office. This is how we make sure that appropriate seats are available to those who need them.

At the Barnfield

The entrance to the Barnfield Theatre is step-free. The accessible washroom facilities are located in the main foyer on the ground floor.

The auditorium has 2 wheelchair spaces on row B, which are accessed through the side entry on Barnfield Road. Please make your way into the main foyer, where a member of staff will be pleased to assist you, as this entrance is not in use for the general public.

Access Performances

Certain performances are made more accessible through sign language interpretation, audio description, captioning, or slight adjustments that make for a more relaxed theatre-going experience.

All access performances are highlighted on our what’s on pages with little icons and can be selected by using the filter option.

Age Guidance

Our age guide system is generally based on the same rating system as used for cinematic film releases and we try to be as clear as possible as to what the age guidance is based on for a particular event. However, we do rely on visiting companies to set the age guide for touring shows, as they are most familiar with the material they are presenting themselves.

If you have any questions about the content or suitability of a performance or event, please get in touch with our Box Office team, who will be happy to assist.

Prams and pushchairs

There is a designated area where prams and pushchairs may be stored during performances, as they cannot be taken into the auditorium.

Changing facilities

At the Barnfield, you’ll find changing facilities in the accessible bathroom, located on the ground floor in the foyer.
