Masking for a friend: face coverings at the theatre
It’s been joyous to welcome audiences back to the Northcott. We’ve been touched and encouraged by your wonderful support and your overwhelmingly positive response to our COVID measures.
As we increase capacity, we will continue to protect you as you return to our theatre. Our staff and volunteers will be wearing face coverings for your safety and we request that you do the same.
In addition to this, we will also continue with the measures laid out below:

We’re laying on additional staff to guide you through the building and answer any questions or concerns you might have, and all of our team will be wearing masks or working behind screens.
New Ventilation System
We have recently installed a modern and efficient full fresh air ventilation system, which we’ve had tested to ensure it meets Covid-secure standards. The air is heated or cooled to a comfortable temperature and then delivered into the Auditorium at low velocity through black “sock” diffusers which run down the walls so there is no recirculation of air.
Pre-Order & Collect Food and Drink
We’ve introduced a pre-order option for drinks and snacks, with pre-show orders ready for you to collect without the need to queue at the bar, and interval orders delivered straight to your seat. Pre-orders can be placed from the relevant event pages on our website from several days before the performance up until one hour before the performance starts.
We’ve moved over to digital tickets for the majority of our customers, so you won’t need to present a printed ticket to get into the theatre. Printed tickets can still be requested from our Box Office if needed.
Queueing Systems & Clear Signage
There will be queuing systems in place to prevent overcrowding at the bar if you can’t pre-order.
Early Access To Seats
We’ll open the auditorium half an hour before every show so that you can head straight to your seats when you arrive.
Hand Sanitiser Stations
We’ve installed automatic hand sanitiser stations at multiple locations throughout the theatre.
We’ve introduced an enhanced cleaning regime in all public areas of the theatre.
If you or anyone in your party is affected by COVID, we offer a no-quibble credit or refund. Just contact us as soon as you’re able.
We’ve all been through a tough time and it’s more important than ever that we respect and look after our friends, neighbours and fellow theatre-goers. Here’s how you can help
You can still check in on arrival
We will continue to display our Track and Trace QR codes, which visitors can use to check in to the theatre using the NHS COVID-19 app. Paper registration will also be available at the theatre. You can download the app from the Apple App Store and Google Play store.
If you’re unwell…
If you or anyone in your household has Coronavirus symptoms, please don’t visit us. We will happily talk to you about ticket options so you can get well and return when it’s safe.
When you’re here…
Please follow the signage and instructions for queueing and moving around the building, and use the hand sanitiser stations situated throughout the theatre.
Wear a face covering
We still request that you wear a face covering whilst you’re in the theatre – this includes while watching the show. You will, of course, need to remove it to eat and drink but please remove it for this purpose only.
