Exeter’s favourite funny men Le Navet Bete led a physical theatre masterclass at the Barnfield, part of a series of workshops aimed at developing the next generation of artistic talent in the South West.
Treasured Devon trio Al Dunn, Matt Freeman and Nick Bunt of Le Navet Bete ran a workshop in February that provided theatre makers with a fun and engaging hands-on experience of the techniques used in physical theatre.
Le Navet Bete led the group through a series of playful exercises and games that challenged them to use their bodies to create memorable and entertaining performances. The theatre makers had to sneak up on Nick during a game called ‘Grandmother’s Footsteps’, embody emotions and weather conditions, as well as pretend to be tourists and tour guides.
“Fantastic experience – really pushed me out of my comfort zone!” – Physical Theatre Masterclass participant
This workshop was part of a broader series of masterclasses that we’ve put together this spring to help theatre makers develop their performance skills, gain practical experience, and network with other artists. Our masterclasses cover a wide range of topics, from fundraising to directing, and are led by local industry professionals with extensive experience in their respective fields.
“I had a brilliant time. A playful space was set up by the team that gave me confidence to take creative risks. Would definitely recommend.” – Physical Theatre Masterclass participant
